Access Matters UK Statement

All Access Matters UK auditors are committed to the social model of disability.

In an Access Matters UK audit report we offer advice and recommendations designed to suit the widest range of people with disabilities.

This advice is based on years of experience working with people who have many different difficulties negotiating access to services, facilities and employment.

It is also based on years of experience and training working with the built environment in housing, new build projects and in access training through the Architectural Association and the Centre of Accessible Environments, the RNIB and the RNID.

Particular access problems for some people may not be fully resolved but an effort has been made to accommodate most people who experience a significant disadvantage in the built and social environment, including people with learning difficulties, visual and hearing impairments and mental health problems.

Emphasis is always on the INCLUSIVE PROVISION of facilities for all, rather than on DISABLED FACILITIES.
